Sex and the City Star, Kim Cattrall, Says Sex After 50 is All in Your Head

Is sex after 50 normal? Sex and the City star, Kim Cattrall thinks so!

If Hollywood is to be believed, the only people having sex in this world are perfectly sculpted 20-somethings with radiant skin on the outside and an animal passion on the inside. The idea that people in their 50s and 60s enjoy sex is almost as forgotten on screen as it is in real life.

As baby boomers, we know the truth. We understand that sex can actually get better with age, as you leave behind your insecurities and are better able to focus on your needs and the needs of your partner.

Do our bodies change as we get a little older? Absolutely. But, that’s not a bad thing. It’s just another aspect of ourselves to explore with that special someone.

Sex after 50 is a taboo subject. That’s why I’m so happy to see older celebrities, like Helen Mirren and Kim Cattrall, finally starting to talk about the importance of intimacy in their lives. Like most people, I don’t particularly care about the details – but, I am happy that they are helping to break down stereotypes.

Kim Cattrall Says Sex After 50 is All in Your Head

You probably remember Kim Cattrall from her role as Samantha in Sex and the City. In the show, Samantha was daring, passionate and a bit of a wild child (ok, that’s an understatement.) In real life, Cattrall is also not afraid to speak her mind.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Cattrall, now 58, said:

For me, sex starts in the brain. What’s going on lower down doesn’t make me want to possess someone; it’s usually a little twinkle about them or a sense of humor.

I think that’s how many women over 50 feel. We can still appreciate a beautiful body when we see one, but, for the most part, we care about what it below the surface. More importantly, we care about what is going on in our partner’s mind. We are still sexual beings, even if the target of our passions has shifted somewhat over the years.

I’d love to get your opinion on this.
